Pinecliff Mission Team - Fri 8 JUN 2012

This year's team of  youth and adults worked hard and accomplished a lot!  They dug up rocks and sage stumps in the ground to allow the caretakers to later seed the RV park with grass.  They moved those rocks alongside pathways and the road.  They shoveled, picked, raked and did whatever was required of them!!!

Next is the time to await other Jr High Youth from around Utah for the Jr High Camp portion of this trip.  The devotional theme for the mission trip portion was about FRIENDS.  Our youth are excited to make new lasting friendships with others!

Barb - Youth Director

"Wow!   What talent our group has!!  Last night we had a talent show with 18 different performances!!!  This photo is from a Spanish song Tim and I sang for the group, "Yo tengo gozo...."   It was a lot of fun!
This Jr High Mission Trip to Pinecliff is probably the most rewarding mission trip we take every year.  Our youth come prepared to do God's work (i.e. be Christ's Body) in all that they do and they do some really physically hard and challenging work -- without a word of complaint.  It's been awesome to watch this happen again this year.  The temperature has been warming up each day, but the early morning peaceful sound of birds chirping is very relaxing."     Barb

Katya

"It feels really good to know I'm helping someone (Pinecliff).  It's hard work  but it feels good at the end to have it be accomplished.  It's fun because you get to be with friends and have someone to talk to while working.
I came here because I thought the experience would change me and help me grow more in my faith. I knew we were going to do work and it would be hard but in the end it would benefit the camp and the people who come here."   Katya

Rex - Project Foreman

"It's fulfilling to do this for Pinecliff and God.  It feels great not being around the stress of city and work and hanging out with kids without cell phones in their hands.  It feels slow and peaceful."   Rex

Lindsay

".  It's fun and good to know we're doing this work for God. My mom told me about this trip so I decided to come do it.  I thought it would be fun and it's my first youth mission trip!"   Lindsay

Chelsea

"It's fun doing God's work.  It feels really good and makes you feel like you're doing something good for others.  I came up here because it's more fun up here than being at home!"   Chelsea

Ryan

"It's hard work doing God's work, but it makes you feel good.  I like the feeling of helping someone out."  Ryan

Steve W - Pinecliff Caretaker

"It's a beautiful day for the kids to be out working.  I'm so thankful that they never forget Pinecliff.  I'm so appreciative of that.  These kids never complain about working hard.  It's always good for them to do community service work.  It teaches them a valuable lesson in life."  Steve W.

Pam - Cook

"It feels good to be up here at Pinecliff.  It's a beautiful place.  I enjoy being around the kids when they're working hard and having fun together.  I like seeing when they form new friendships.  I'm glad I have a gift that's helpful to the Jr High Mission Trip."   Pam

Barbara W. - Pinecliff Caretaker

"We're so grateful to these young people for helping us.  Pinecliff only works with volunteers like this and it's good to see young peope with such a good work ethic.
Thanks again many times over."   Barbara W.

Austin - Jr Counselor

Doing God's work is fine.  It's different from ordinary work I suppose.  I wanted to come to Pinecliff again this year.  Being a Jr Counselor is not a whole lot different, I just have more meetings to go to!"    Austin

Pastor Jean - Counselor

"It's fun doing God's work up here at Pinecliff - it's the best part of my job!  It's also a chance to be around the youth and I don't get a lot of chances to do this. All of our work will be nice for the people using the camp this year."    Pastor Jean

Helen

"I think mostly it's hard to do God's work and you don't know how it's going to turn out, but in the end, it's really rewarding and you realize how much fun you had!  It's fun working with people who are working for the same cause as you are and have fun too.
I came to Pinecliff because I just thought it would be a good experience.  At home I do what I want and here I'm having fun with others and having a good experience.  It's fun to camp in the mountains and be independent away from home."   Helen

Madeline O. - Jr Counselor

"Doing God's work is tiring but I know it helps the camp and other people in my community.

Being a Jr Counselor is like I'm not a counselor because I'm having so much fun - but I'm making sure people don't bleed and stuff....

If I were at home I'd be watching tv and here I'm outside enjoying myself!"   Madeline O.

Mandy - Counselor

"It feels very rewarding back in nature and doing what needs to be done.  You can't describe it in words - you need to do it to know how it feels.  You just can't describe it. It's different from doing some work at your house and garden.  It should feel rewarding doing it at home, but it's just chores.
Coming out here and doing the same work;  seeing the kids working in nature away from computers, cell phones and malls; we should do it more often!"    Mandy

Maddie S

"It feels really good to do God's work.  I feel like I'm helping out God and others as well.   This mission trip gives me something to do and it makes me feel good that I'm helping others."   Maddie

Lizzie

"God's work is hard work.  I guess it's a good experience for me because my mom says I don't do enough chores at home.   I'm an 'odd' kid who sometimes doesn't like to hang out with friends.  Before this experience we had never found a camp like this!  I'm glad I'm here!!!"   Lizzie

Ashley - cook

"God's work here at Pinecliff is high energy and positive!  I'm also hearing God's animals and their cycle of life...."   Ashley

Shannon - Jr Counselor

"Doing God's work up at Pinecliff is like doing something I can always do to feel closer to God.  I like to spend free time doing something that is going to be worth something in the long run.   I would rather spend my summer doing things that are fun and doing hard work for others (other than myself.)"   Shannon

Peachy

"I feel good while I'm doing God's work. God's watching over me keeping me safe.  I know when I work hard He feel good!
At Pinecliff I can hang out with my youth friends and still do God's work!" Peachy

Makayla

"God's work is FUN!!!  I like it!   I enjoy making lunch for other people and the projects are hard and it's hot outside.  I really wanted to come to camp. This is the only thing I'm doing this summer that doesn't have to do with basketball."    Makayla

Desi - Jr Counselor

"It feels really good to be able to do positive projects and make a positive impact on other kids lives through devotionals and setting a good example up here at Pinecliff.   Through all my years of Jr High and Elementary Camps I remember the Adult and Jr Counselors in my life, so it's important for me to make a difference in the same way now that I'm old enough."    Desi

Taren

"It makes me feel good inside and it's amazing hanging out with friends here at Pinecliff.  You don't think of it as work.  I think of it as hanging out with my friends."  Taren

Bobbie

"It feels like I'm where I'm suppose to be right now and I'm helping and thinking what I should be thinking instead of negative thinking.   It means the world to me to be helping out at Pinecliff vs being at home."   Bobbie

Tim - Jr Counselor

"It feels humbling doing God's work up here.  I'm used to a more relaxed setting.  It feels good to work hard while also doing God's work and doing something for a camp I have such loyalty for.

It would be more convenient if I were home right now getting ready for our Wesley Bell Ringer Tour, but I feel an obligation to give back to the Pinecliff.  It's my responsibility to give back as often as I can."  Tim

Shawna - birthday girl

"I feel amazing knowing I'm making a difference in the world  by helping.  I love just helping people and doing work.  I love doing work!   I guess I was just born that way.  I like being with the church and helping and knowing that each of us can make a difference and our church can make a difference.  It's a fun experience!"  Shawna

Liam

"It's good to do God's work up here at Pinecliff.  I'm helping out the owners of Pinecliff.  I wanted to come here to help out God and everyone else."   Liam

Emma

Steve D. - Counselor

"I need water!   It's a little exhausting but it's cool working on something that benefits others.  In a lot of ways, God is the only one who knows we are doing this.  When the campers come, they won't know we did this.  It's definitely selfless service.  The project isn't for our benefit or glory.  It's for God.    I need water!"  Steve D.

Cailey

"I like doing God's work here at Pinecliff because it shows me the right direction to go in and how just a little bit of help works.  I am really excited to be here - it's my first year and I heard so many great things about this trip and my brother is here.  I just wanted to come and make a difference."   Cailey
